Summer Dance Intensive

SBA is excited to feature DEVIATE In-House Dance Convention for its Summer Dance Intensive!  

  • July 10-14: Intermediate/Advance Levels
  • July 17-21: Intermediate/Advance Levels
  • July 24-28: Intermediate/Advance Levels
  • July 31-August 4: Intermediate/Advance Levels

The program is from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.  The students have the option of taking one to four weeks. They will be taught different styles of dance from an outstanding faculty and will also be part of a music video shoot. Before and aftercare service available upon request  The cost is $600 per week. Guest Teachers:

Dylan Pearce is a freelance teacher, choreographer and performer from New York City. He began dancing at the age of 5 going on to study extensively at the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC on scholarship along with Broadway Dance Center, Steps and The Ailey School. Dylan was the Assistant Choreographer for the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular," he also spent five seasons performing in the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" and most recently performed in the "Radio City Spring Spectacular" alongside Derek Hough and Laura Benanti. He has choreographed for the Samsung Group, Radio City Rockettes, "America's Got Talent," Brenda K. Starr, Amy Lynn and The Gun Show and all over the United States for studios and universities. Dylan has performed in televised and staged productions including Off Broadway in Shea Sullivan’s "Dancing on a Dream," WNBA All-Star Halftime Show, Miss New Jersey, Miss New York and The Miss Florida pageants, The Michael Awards, Trump Signature Events, Equity Fights AIDS, Knicks City Dancers, Jazz Dance America’s Tri-State Youth Invitational, Ray-Ban and Rite Aid industrials and the International Dance Festival in NYC. Dylan toured with recording artists Brenda K. Starr, and Tina Ann and was a dancer in the modern company, Momix. He was also dance captain for Walt Disney World’s “Twas The Night Before Christmas” and toured the world performing and setting shows for Princess and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Dylan is a highly sought after master teacher and choreographer. His distinctive style sets his choreography apart and gives his dancers a cutting edge above the competition. 


Nina Hudson is a Cum Laude graduate of SUNY Purchase College’s Dance Conservatory. She began her training at Fran’s Studio of Dance, a local studio in Maryland, then attended The Ailey School in New York. She has danced in the ensemble of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City for the past 8 seasons. As a child she received her first Broadway credit in the National Tour of Showboat when they resided at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Nina has performed in numerous televised and staged productions including NBC Wednesday’s Child, NBA All-Star Game, ABC Salutes Broadway Cares, D-Man in the Water choreographed by Bill T. Jones, The Nutcracker with the Joffrey Ballet Company, and Epcot Center Talent Showcase in Walt Disney World. She has danced for pop stars including Peaches and Brenda K. Starr, and was also featured in German Pop Star, Tarkan’s, music video “Ask Gitti Bizden”. Nina currently resides in New York City and teaches master classes at numerous studios throughout the United States. She returns every summer to be on faculty at The Joffrey Ballet Summer Program in San Antonio Texas where she teaches Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, and Improvisation. Co-Creating DEViATE In-House Dance Convention has been one of many dreams come true for Nina Hudson.


Amy Ruggiero a native of New York, graduated from Goucher College, with a BA in Dance and Biological Sciences. She recently performed on both the 1st National Broadway and Japan Tours of Twyla Tharp's Come Fly Away, acting as Dance Captain and Female Principal/Ensemble Swing. Prior to that, Amy danced with Ballet Austin and with American Repertory Ballet. She currently works as an Ensemble Dancer for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in NYC. As a freelance artist, she has done projects for Nimbus Dance Works, Terra Firma Dance Theatre, Opera New Jersey, Terpsicorps Theater of Dance, Kinetic Works, and Glitterati. Film credits include footage and visuals for Beyonce's The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. With freelance writing published in Dance Spirit magazine, Amy was a founding member of the collaborative blog danceINTUIT and accompanying ejournal The Dance JOT.


Michael McArthur was placed in his first dance class at the age of three. After years of growing up taking the basics of ballet, jazz, and tap and doing different shows around his community in New Jersey he really began taking his art seriously when he was accepted into the Freehold Regional High Schools Fine and Performing Arts Center for Dance. During the 3 year program he did works ranging from George Balanchine to Bob Fosse as well as creating over 12 pieces of his own. During his Junior year he was 1 of the 12 dancers from the State accepted into the New Jerseys Governors School of the Arts. Leaving High School he immediately began performing at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania doing “Dance, Dance, Dance” an original show directed and choreographed by broadways Vince Pesce. From there he attended Marymount Manhattan College under the direction of Katie Langan where he received his B.F.A. in dance with a choreography concentration. While at MMC he created 3 full length works and had the chance to perform works by Twyla Tharp, David Parsons, and Stephen Petronio, to name a few. Since Graduation Michael has worked for Holland America Cruise Line and Stiletto Entertainment. His past seven Holidays seasons have been spent doing The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world famous Rockettes. He was the original swing for the out of town run of Disney’s NEWSIES at Papermill Playhouse. Michael can also be seen in NBC’s SMASH in the numbers “National Pastime,” Second Hand White Baby Grand,” and “Never Met Wolf”. This past fall he was back at Papermill Playhouse in the broadway bound revival of “Can-Can”. Other credits include: “Hello Dolly!” (Cape Playhouse) “Legally Blonde” (Cape Playhouse). William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Pro-Bowl halftime show, Dancer for M.A.C. cosmetics and ATT Choreographer for Dance Teams and companies across the nation, Michael still trains in every dance form in order to try and keep his class, and himself, as up to date and well rounded as possible.
